Carmen’s roots in Thorold run deep. His grandfathers came from Italy in the late 1920s to help build the Welland Canal, beginning a family connection to Thorold that has continued for generations.
For more than 30 years, Carmen has worked with local children and families as an educator and coach. He taught Micro and Macro Economics at Niagara College for 21 years and has served the past eight years on Thorold City Council.

Thorold should be a community where families can thrive, children have opportunities, seniors can access the services they need, and residents facing mental health, addiction or homelessness challenges can find meaningful support. Giving back has been a lifelong commitment. From helping coordinate monthly food giveaways supporting more than 500 Thorold families, to serving on the City’s Road Safety Committee for 2 terms of Council.

Carmen grew up on Pine Street and has lived in St. John’s for 30 years. His commitment is to represent residents throughout Thorold:
